Bidding in our 10x10 community show is well underway. Stop by to check on your bids or to place a new bid on a fantastic piece of artwork. Bidding closes August 22 at 4pm sharp! Thank you to all the artists who participated in this year's community show.

Also remember to check out "Captured Moments," the new display of artwork by Mary Jong of Armstrong. The Gallery looks great adorned with her new acrylic pieces (almost all on circular canvases--a really neat idea!)

The newest edition of our newsletter is hot off the presses. If you're a member in 2008, watch for your copy of the ASMAS newsletter in the mail. If you're not a member, stop by to pick one up and, while you're at it, fill out a membership form. Membership costs only $5 and with it you're kept up to date on what's happening at the Museum & Art Gallery. It's a great way to show your support for what we do.

Attention artists! There are a limited number of canvases still available for the 10x10 community show. Interested artists should stop by the gallery between 10am and 4pm Monday through Saturday to register and to pick up a canvas (registration fee is $5--this includes the cost of the canvas). Drop-off day is July 22 between 11am and 3pm, so all paintings must be completed and dropped off at the Gallery by this deadline. Please phone 250-546-8318 if you have any questions about this year's community shows. Also note that this exhibit is a fundraiser; all artwork will be auctioned off in a silent auction with 50% of proceeds going to Museum & Art Gallery programs.

Thank you to everyone who has donated books for our April book sale. We accept book donations year-round, so please drop them off at the Gallery during business hours.

Our new curator, Sondra Haglund, begins her job on Monday, July 14. Stop by to say "hello"! If you haven't already, also say "hi" to our summer students, Mary Jane Howie and Charlotte Helston. They will be working with us until the end of August.

There's lots of stuff happening at the Gallery! Our Painting in the Park program starts Wednesday (July 9). There are spaces available, so stop by the Gallery to register. Also, there is a great response to our two art shows: "Nurturers by Nature," watermedia by Lisa Figueroa and "A Sustainable Model: The Artistry of Dorian Kohl,". Shows run until the 19th, so don't miss out!

Please join us tomorrow afternoon between 2 and 4pm for a Come-and-Go tea, in honour of Lisa. Lisa's last day of work is today. She's done an amazing job in the past eight years as curator-administrator and we wish her the best with her future plans.
